Seasonal Tree Tips: Late Summer / Early Fall

If you have wildlife eating your trees and shrubs, implement some kind of deer protection.  Fencing the area is one option.  There are various types of deer protection available at your local garden supply store.  If fencing is not feasible there are many natural products, as well as native plants, that act as deterrents.

Late summer and early fall are also a good time to prune trees, install new trees or transplant existing trees to a different location on your property.

Be sure to continue your watering, especially with trees and shrubs that are recently planted.  Don't forget to mist the foliage on these as well - but not in the heat of the day when the sun is high.

This is also a good time to fertilize trees and shrubs. Check your local garden supply shop.
